Reaching and lifting material
that is at waist height is usually considered the "ergonomicaly
correct position" from which to lift. However, not all individuals
have the same waist level. Wheelchair users may have difficulty accessing
materials considered to be "waist height." Also extremely
tall, short, and obese individuals can have problems accessing materials
at typical waist levels. Reachers,
height
adjusters, lift
tables, work
platforms, and adjustable workstations (e.g., industrial
and office)
are products that can adjust materials so that they may be reached
at waist height.
