The
JAN staff would like to honor the memory of our dear friend
and colleague, Mayda LaRosse. Mayda was born March 25, 1957,
in Havana, Cuba. She passed away April 1, 2004, after a long
illness. For seven years, Mayda worked as a JAN consultant
on our Cognitive/Neurological team and as our Spanish interpreter.
She was an inspiring teacher and mentor who shared her knowledge,
sense of humor, and enthusiasm with everyone whom she met
or spoke. Mayda will be sincerely missed by her family, friends,
co-workers, church, school, and all others whose lives she
enriched with grace and compassion. We love and miss you.
Mayda earned a Master of Arts in Special Education specializing
in learning disabilities.
Mayda was a member of JAN's Cognitive/Neurological team. Her
specialty areas included learning disabilities, attention
deficit disorder, sleep disorders, and epilepsy.
Mayda's interests were speaking to audiences about accommodations
for learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, and
the ADA.
Mayda's research interests included the implementation of
accommodations not only in the work setting but in the classroom
setting as well.
