Trainers: Corey Turner, HR Manager, Jones Lang
LaSalle, with Anne Hirsh, JAN Consultant.
By the Year 2010 it is expected that 1 in 10 working age individuals
will be employed in healthcare. As the population ages and medical
technology
advances the demand for healthcare professionals continues to grow
and exceed supply. More than ever HR professionals are trying to
meet
the
need and are looking at people with disabilities as a resource for
successful job candidates.
Using real examples of people with disabilities
successfully employed in healthcare, participants will get the
chance to apply their knowledge and explore the myths, pitfalls,
strategies and opportunities for accommodating and employing people
with disabilities in healthcare professions.
Participants will learn strategies for successfully
incorporating workers with disabilities into the healthcare workforce,
including:
- How to involve the HR department, nursing and other
healthcare departments, administrators, and professionals
in the accommodation process in order
to achieve effective job accommodation outcomes.
- What questions
to ask when gathering information about the specific job
tasks and the
individual's limitations in order to achieve successful
job accommodation outcomes.
- The more common accommodation issues in the
healthcare industry and solutions to those situations.
