Official Contest Rules,Terms & Conditions

These Official Rules are subject to change at any time by the Campaign for Disability Employment (hereinafter, at times, referred to as "The Campaign") and retroactively apply back to the date of first publication. Please read and review.

Contest Dates
The What Can YOU Do? Video Contest begins upon publication of the Official Rules and ends July 15, 2009.

Who May Enter
No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win. By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the Official Rules and warrants that his or her entry complies with all requirements set out in the Official Rules. CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. Any employee, consultant, independent contractor, and/or fiduciary board member of any member organizations, and their immediate family members, of the Campaign for Disability Employment may not be a contestant in any way in this contest.

How to Enter
Create a public service video spot (60 seconds or less) designed to promote positive change by illustrating that “at work, it’s what people CAN do that matters.“ We're looking for original videos that incorporate one of the contest themes in a serious, surprising, or even funny way! Use your creativity to illustrate, how everyone can benefit from good workplace practices that give all workers the opportunity to contribute and be included.  Video entries should reflect one or more of the Campaign for Disability Employment’s key themes and appeal to one or more of the campaign’s target audiences, as outlined below:

To enter the What Can YOU Do? Video Contest, complete the online contest entry form and upload your video to the contest Web site or send a completed entry form and video by mail or courier. If your video is 15 megabytes or larger, you must send it with your completed entry form by mail or courier on a CD, DVD or USB Flash Drive.  All video entries, uploaded or sent, must be provided in one or more of the following formats: .WMV, QuickTime .MOV, .AVI or .MPG.

  • The What Can YOU Do? Video Contest runs from June 8, 2009 - July 15, 2009. To be eligible to win, contest entries must be uploaded to the contest Web site no later than July 15, 2009, or if mailed, post marked by July 15, 2009.
  • Qualified contestants may submit as many videos as they would like.
  • There is no age limit for participating.
  • Video spots must be 60 seconds or less in length, excluding intro/extro credits.
  • Entries may be submitted by one or more contestants, but not on behalf of any corporate entities or organizations.
  • In the event of a group entry:
    • Each and every contestant in the group must be named on the entry form
    • One group leader must be identified if more than one contestant is named on the entry form
    • Only one contestant will be eligible for the prize; however, all other contestants named on the winning entry form will be recognized on the Campaign for Disability Employment's Web site and in other campaign materials
  • Contestants must obtain parental consent for each person under age 18 (including themselves, if applicable) who appear in the video and confirm that consent was received.
  • An electronic transcript must be provided and will be used to caption the video. For videos in languages other than English, an English transcript must be provided.
  • The contest is open to all legal residents of the United States.
  • All videos should be free of copyrighted materials, including music.

Judging
Videos will be judged by a panel of representatives from member organizations of the Campaign for Disability Employment.  Judging will be based on originality, content, reflection of campaign themes and audiences, production value and impact. Any and all decisions of the panel of representatives regarding the selection of the contest's winning videos will be final.

Prizes
Top videos will be featured on the Campaign for Disability Employment’s Web site, planned for launch in August 2009.  Also, the overall contest winner will receive a $1,500 gift card to Best Buy logoBest Buy, one of the nation's leading technology retailers, and an employer that includes and values all employees for their talents, ideas, and innovative approaches. One contest winner may also have the opportunity to meet with disability, business, or government leaders and be honored at a Campaign event in Washington, DC.

Release of Liability
By entering this contest, all contestants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless the Campaign for Disability Employment, and its members, from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this contest. Furthermore, the Campaign for Disability Employment and its members assume no responsibility for any error or delay in transmission to the contest FTP site, or technical malfunction of any kind, including human errors, which results in any injury or damage to contestants' or any others' technologies, including desktop and laptop computers, cell phones and handheld devices, related to or resulting from uploading or downloading any materials related to this contest.  
  
Original Content and Ownership
By entering this contest, each contestant and, if applicable, his/her contestant group, warrants that each submitted video in its entirety, is a single work of original material made by the contestant(s) that does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the video. By entering this contest, the contestant agrees that he/she has obtained the consent of all parties shown in the video.  Each and every contestant agrees to indemnify the Campaign for Disability Employment, and/or its members relating, in any way, to the What Can YOU Do? Video Contest described herein.

Consent to Release and Limited Contestant(s) Use of Each Submitted Video
Each and every contestant, consents to allow the Campaign for Disability Employment, and its members, to use their name, likeness and submitted video on the official What Can YOU Do? Web site, on other Web sites related to the campaign, in any advertisements promoting these sites, and any subsequent broadcast or transmission of the submitted video regardless of medium or format.  Mutually, The Campaign for Disability Employment and its members extends its permission to contestant(s) to retain their right to use their submitted video(s) only for the purposes that meet both the stated goals of this Contest and the Campaign for Disability Employment. Furthermore, the Campaign for Disability Employment reserves the right to terminate any contestant's use or placement of one or more submitted videos to this contest if, in the sole determination of the Campaign for Disability Employment, its use or placement does not meet the goals of this contest and The Campaign's stated goals.

Right to Modify, Cancel or Suspend Contest
If, for any reason, this contest is not capable of running as planned, due to technical failures or any other causes, whether or not such causes are beyond the control of the Campaign for Disability Employment, we reserve the right to suspend the contest. The Campaign also reserves the right to update these rules to account for errors, omissions, or changes in guidelines or procedures.

Notification of Winners
Contest winner(s) will be notified by phone or e-mail on or before August 3, 2009.
